CELEBRATION 2026
Arcoíris Cultural and Ballet Folklórico Oregon Coast invite you to celebrate Day of the Dead with us! This free event will take place on Sunday, November 1st at 4 PM at the Newport Performing Arts Center (777 W Olive St, Newport, OR 97365; https://maps.app.goo.gl/YWcgToMa8N9eD8BH7).

This event is open to the entire community and is a space to honor our loved ones and celebrate through art, culture, and tradition. We invite you to bring an offering or a photo of a dearly departed loved one to include on the altar.

Guatemalan Weaver
Abelina started weaving traditional Mayan textiles at a very young age. Her mother and grandmother passed on this tradition to her. Most of the patterns and colors are combinations of designs that are kept in her memories, the materials have to be purchased and mailed all the way from her homeland “Todos Santos Guatemala”.
To weave a handbag could take up to 2 months, Sedalina and thousands of colorful lana wool are use to create beautiful and unique art pieces.
Arcoíris Cultural has collaborated with Abelina to provide weaving and textile demonstrations to our community and she often attends our community events as a vendor. If you are interested in purchasing a piece from Abelina, please reach out to our team here for more information.
