THE MOBILE CLINIC

The Mobile Clinic is a collaborative initiative by the Oregon Health Authority, the Lincoln County Public Health Department, Arcoíris Cultural and Conexión Fénix, with the intent of bringing essential health services directly to the communities we serve.

Beginning in October 2025 and continuing through June 2026, Arcoíris Cultural will hold community outreach events at various locations across the county, such as La Juquilita Store in Newport, La Guadalupana Store in Lincoln City, and the Arcoíris Cultural office in Newport.

At each event, Community Health Promoters will be available to provide print and digital materials, as well as information on Oregon Health Plan (OHP) enrollment, Marketplace Health Insurance, behavioral health resources, vaccines, and other relevant topics.

At each event, our Community Health Promoters will be available to provide print and digital materials, as well as information on Oregon Health Plan (OHP) enrollment, Marketplace Health Insurance, behavioral health resources, vaccines, and other relevant topics, while offering participation incentives will be offered during these outreach events. Additionally, depending on availability, the Lincoln County Public Health Mobile Clinic will also be in attendance, offering vaccines, testing, and other health services.

For those who cannot attend in-person, we will also be offering virtual outreach sessions, adapting to the current needs and circumstances of the community.

CLUB DE AMIGES EN STEM

Club de Amiges in STEM is a free initiative that engages students from Newport-area schools, especially Latine and Indigenous Mesoamerican students, in the exciting world of STEM—Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. We provide hands-on workshops and field trips after school.

Our activities include drone workshops, musical instrument construction, marine science, and excursions to places like the Newport Aquarium, Yakona Ecological Reserve, and the Hatfield Marine Science Center. Students also enjoy outdoor activities, helping them connect classroom learning to real-world experiences.

We’ve partnered with Oregon State University (OSU), Hatfield Marine Science Center, and Western Oregon University to offer expert-led sessions and STEM opportunities. These collaborations help inspire students to explore educational and career paths in STEM fields.

At Club de Amiges, we make STEM accessible, fun, and inclusive, fostering a community where students can learn, grow, and thrive.

DRIVERS MANUAL REVIEW

"Helping the Guatemalan Mam-Speaking Community Pass the DMV Written Test."

Many non-English and Spanish-speaking residents in our community have struggled to pass the written portion of the DMV driver’s license test. Specifically, members of the Guatemalan Mam-speaking community have faced challenges understanding the Spanish questions and the audio version of the test. To help overcome this barrier and avoid the frustration and fines of not being able to obtain a license, Arcoiris Cultural partnered with the group Acompañar.

Together, we hosted the first DMV Driver's Manual book review for community members in Spanish, with Mam interpretation provided by our Mam-speaking staff. Our staff helped participants review the driver’s manual and Oregon’s driving laws, equipping them with the tools they need to successfully pass the written and audio tests and earn their driver’s licenses.

COMMUNITY CAFÉS

Community Cafés are a collaborative initiative designed to promote social well-being and health within Latine and Indigenous Mesoamerican communities. In collaboration with local organizations, government agencies, and community groups, we provide a space where community members can connect, share resources, and offer feedback to improve services and support systems.

These cafés play a crucial role in gathering feedback directly from the community, which is shared with local and government organizations. This collaborative process ensures that services and initiatives are better aligned with the unique needs of Latine and Indigenous Mesoamerican populations, fostering more effective and culturally relevant solutions.

As part of this initiative, we offer Mam/Spanish interpretation, allowing all community members to participate fully. Additionally, we provide culturally connected food and a variety of resources to support health, well-being, and both social and cultural needs.
